When I first listened to Guns N Roses, it wasn't Sweet Child or Welcome to the Jungle that I heard. When I was around 10-12 I started getting into heavier guitar oriented music (like Megadeth/Metallica and other bands like Avenged Sevenfold). I'm only 20, so I'm probably a bit younger than some of the posters. Most of your answers I could use for other artists, and while I don't agree that Slash is overrated I can understand where you are all coming from (if you think that). Most of you gave me good, honest answers without being rude about it. So please, tell me, why all the hate for Slash?Įdit: Thank you for all the explanations and opinions. And I understand he is no virtuoso, but his songwriting is fantastic (IMO). He only plays a few GnR songs at his gigs. Is it his playing that makes him overrated? Is it his working with brands like GUITAR World, GIBSON, or GUITAR Center, or Ernie Ball that makes him a sell out? He is not milking Guns N' Roses. They recently released an album, “Live at the Roxy,” over at BitTorrent for $16.When people ask who my favorite band is or whatever and I say Slash, its like they just need to tell me how bad he is, how overrated he is, or how he is a sellout.

The two ornate pillars flanking the fireplace in the formal room were taken from a 1920s movie theater. There’s a 36-foot half-pipe outside for skating and a recording studio inside, where Slash recorded his last three albums. “Everything in that house is custom,” says Mills. At the time, the style of the house was very vanilla, so Perla rocked out and revamped it.
